There’s free help in Howard for weatherization steps that make homes more comfortable and energy efficient.  Both renters and homeowners who have lived in their houses a year, and who meet federal income guidelines, may apply for the Weatherization Assistance Program.  Weatherization measures could include:

—Weatherstrippping doors and windows
—Caulking and sealing cracks
—Insulating attics, walls and floors
—Installing windows
—Fixing or repairing furnaces

The federal Weatherization Assistance Program in this part of South Dakota is handled by the Interlakes Community Action Program.
